My biggest tip when starting to experiment with yoga is try it more than once. At least 6-8 times for that matter. The reason for this is, I strongly believe that you need to try out different teachers and styles to find the right fit for you. I hear quite often that someone has tried it once and didn't like it either because of the teacher, was too difficult (physically) or not difficult enough. Now when I say because of the teacher I don't mean to imply that he/she may not may qualified, it is simply that just like in everyday life we click with some people and with some we don't. I believe it is the same in this respect. Yoga is not about instructing physical movements and counting along. It's about making students feel comfortable enough to let go and release, to be able to modify asana's based on students needs and limitations and ultimately allow the students to build trust with the teacher.
Additionally, there are many styles of yoga and when you are now beginning it can all seem a bit overwhelming and confusing. Don't let it. Try out different styles. Approach each class with an open heart and you will be amazed at what can happen.
